Welcome Guide

Welcome To Saint George!

Welcome to St. George! Whether you are Orthodox, visiting from another parish, or exploring the Orthodox Christian faith for the first time, we’re grateful you’re here. Our parish is a family—imperfect, growing, and united by Christ. We hope you experience a sense of peace, reverence, and belonging as you worship with us. Please don’t worry if you don’t know what to do or when to do it—many people feel that way at first. Simply come, pray as you are able, and let the beauty of Orthodox worship meet you where you are.

What To Expect

Orthodox worship is ancient, prayerful, and deeply rooted in Scripture. You’ll notice icons, candles, incense, and many spoken or sung prayers. The service is reverent but welcoming, and it engages the whole person—heart, mind, and senses. People may stand often (a traditional posture of prayer), though you are always welcome to sit as needed. You’ll also see people making the sign of the cross, bowing, or venerating icons; feel free to participate as you’re comfortable, or simply observe.

Coffee Hour and Community Life

After Sunday services, many parishes host a coffee hour or fellowship time. This is one of the best ways to meet people, ask questions, and get connected. If you’re new, we encourage you to stop by—even briefly. Our parish life also includes ministries, service opportunities, learning, and events that help us grow together in Christ.
