St. George Church
St. George Orthodox Church, located in Terre Haute IN, is a parish of the Diocese of Toledo and the Midwest under the Omophor of His Grace, the Right Reverend Bishop MARK (Maymon). Our Pastor and Proïstamenos is The Reverend Father David Moretti.
Our Church is located at 1900 South 4th ST., Terre Haute, IN 47802. If you find yourself in Terre Haute please come and allow us to offer you our hospitality.

THEME: The raising of Lazarus from the dead, as the pledge of the resurrection of all mankind. Join us after Liturgy for a light Lenten breakfast (hosted by Fr. David and Kh. Diane), and help polish and decorate for Holy Week and the Feast.

THEME: The triumphant entry of our Lord into Jerusalem to face his voluntary death. The children carry the “palms of victory,” in Procession. Adults and children may also bring decorated candles.
Fish Allowed on this day.

THEME: The righteousness of Joseph (of the Old Testament) and the Fig Tree which was cursed by the Lord. The Procession with the icon of Christ, the Bridegroom of the Church, takes place.

THEME: The woman who anointed the head and feet of our Lord, wiping them with her hair, contrasted with the treachery of Judas and his betrayal of Christ.

THEME: Repentance and Healing of soul and body.
In preparation, the faithful should have been to the Sacrament of Repentance/Confession before this point in Holy Week.
Holy & Great Thursday • April 1 † Divine Liturgy, 9 AM
The Rite of the Washing of the Feet to follow Divine Liturgy
THEME: The Lord’s Supper, when Jesus ate the Passover with his disciples. This is the day on which Orthodox Christians make it a special point to participate in Holy Communion. Children may be excused from school for the morning and will participate in the “Footwashing” rite. Light Lenten Breakfast will follow.

THEME: The Passion of our Lord and the confession of the thief. A procession with the Cross commemorates Christ’s voluntary Crucifixion.

THEME: The Victory of Christ over death and his Resurrection ‘explode’ with throwing of the leaves of victory. Please bring your children to this service. An extremely light Lenten breakfast will follow, and then we need your help in decorating for the Feast.

Saturday, April 3 & Sunday, April 4
† Orthros, Rush Procession, Divine Liturgy 10:30 PM
THEME: The renewal of Creation in the Light of Christ’s Resurrection. The new Light is distributed to the faithful, who carry it in procession.
The church is re-consecrated, and we enter to celebrate the Divine Liturgy. Please bring dyed-red eggs, which we will bless and distribute.
You may also bring Easter Baskets to be blessed for enjoyment or sharing after the Liturgy.
Pascha • April 4 †
Agape Vespers, 11 AM
THEME: The Good News (Gospel) of the Resurrection will be proclaimed in as many languages as possible. Please sign up in advance to read a particular language (we might have the text for you, if you can just read it). An Easter Egg Hunt to follow the service!!
